The new Rough Guide to Britian has rated a night out in Newcastle as the top activity for tourists coming to the UK.

That must be why the bridge is so crowded in the photo.

Saying that, the guide book also says that Britain is argumentative nation of cynics, deterimined to rip everybody off, with seedy, bland and graceless attractions.
